If it is troo that demolition of The Galleries is to begin next February, then that means that the council want rid of it, and rid of it 'pronto' so that it does not become a derelict money pit, and by getting rid of it, and reopening the old Wigan Centre Arcade, which is now called Marketgate, and putting the Market in there, and I suppose they could put the outdoor market outside of it, I can see the merits of that.

But I cannot understand the proposal to build blocks of flats in place of The Galleries, it reminds me of them building Worsley Mesnes in the 1960s only that they are building the new Worsley Mesnes in the middle of Wigan
