"what ever happened to rule of asylum which is the first country after one leaves your own you try to claim asylum in that country."

That is a common misbelief and simply isn't true.

International law states people have the right to seek asylum in any country they may arrive in. There is no law to say they must seek asylum in the first safe country they may reach.

There is however an EU law known as the Dublin III regulation whereby asylum seekers can be transferred back to the first member state they entered but come 31st of Dec when we leave the EU it wont apply to us....... You can blame the brexiteers for that one
