In real terms, you're not getting any 'extra months'. You're only getting a delay on paying.

AND, the reason for that 'delay'??????

Well, the government make no money on MoT test fees. So the six months delay costs them nothing.

Think of all the people who are in 'lockdown', who's MoT test falls due and they also have to tax their cars but can't, due to having no MoT.
They might say, "we can't go out, so I'd may as well s.o.r.n. it".
The result of that is, the government loses money. So the government delay the MoT for six months, solely to enable all those who need to pay their road tax will have to do so.

They're 'giving' nothing!
