Whups

There aren’t any French car companies in Halewood. They operate over the water at Ellesmere Port.
The Nissan Qashqai is in a market segment, Crossover SUVs, that is falling in popularity. It’s sales are down by 15%, two of it’s main rivals, the VW Tiguan and the French Peugeot 3008, are down by 18%.
Hence the decision to go to double day shift working in lieu of the night shift.
