We had one fitted a year or so ago.

No downsides at all. We opted not to have it fully enclosed but had a hinged screen that only covers the curved part of the bath (the bottom chrome bit on your picture). It's less intrusive/confining we think.

Wasteful I know, but we did in fact buy the full enclosure bit but dumped it after deciding against it. No regrets on our part, but everyone to their own, they obviously make them for a reason.

It works well and fully contains all the water.
