The clock shown initially on Mac's thread over on General was 'the clock which hung over the revolving doors, leading to the Market Square. I wonder what happened to it?'

'Hmmm I wonder!

The wonderful Moot Hall arms above and seen in many places across the town. You get the feeling the authorities of the time had such pride in the town's history and the significant but unofficial Coat of Arms.

Only winding folk up. (Not the clock)

Two clocks.

They can't have been binned.

You wouldn't think so. Not been able to find anything out on Google so far.

I wonder if this has any bearing on things: Photo-a-day 18th Nov 2006

The old archway from the old Wigan Market Hall - included in the design of "The Galleries" that replaced it.

'those pillars must be new as my brother had the originals'

Wondered about the archway mention, Jo Anne. I recalled someone menioning something about 'reclamation'.

I hadn't seen the full pic page of the clock, just the one Mac posted on the other thread about the Market Hall.

I'd been looking for it on the wrong page on album.

There are two lots of pics of the place. Outside, and inside.

The one with the Moot Hall on it must have gone by 1960 going off this

Nice to see Dostaf's name on the threads again.

Linley House Wigan has uncovered some very interesting information in the Wigan Observer Friday 31st March 1882,
Thank you fellow Wiganers for your fabulous support

I imagine the clock that the article is referring to will be the one linked to by Dostaf in the OP:
