Dewsbury & London

Does anyone know anything about Dewsbury & London.

I saw the name on a casting set in concrete ages ago.

I assume it's the name of an old company but I haven't been able to find any information on it.

The concrete might have been mixed by the Romans, while they were building their top fortress and capital city, Coccium. It might have been intended to give directions to the two lesser places of Dewsbury and London, in case any of the Romans needed to go there for any reason.

Then again, it was probably a casting manufactured by Longley Concrete, who have plants in Dewsbury and in London.

Never knew the name of the company, gaffer.
The one at Gidlow was used by the NCB to weigh the wagons of coal on their way to Rylands Siding and the W.C.M.L.

Thanks Winder & Gaffer.

I'm surprised it's not been nicked, just lying in the undergrowth like that. I know it's heavy but bigger things have gone walkabout.

Are there any photos of the weighbridge when it was in use?
