Wigans Oldest Tree...

Cleaning out some draws in the garden shed I found and old Daily Mail from 2014 in it was the following article about the oldest tree in Britain

the ancient yew lives in a Welsh churchyard and is thought to have been standing more than 3,000 years before Jesus Christ was born
Experts have run tests on the tree in the St Cynog’s churchyard at Defynnog near Sennybridge, Powys, including DNA and ring dating
The species is common across European churchyards because its evergreen leaves and longevity is a symbol of Christ's transcendence of death.

So were is WIGANS oldest tree located anyone know ??

I've seen one with Adam and Eve carved on it

I can imagine the oldest tree in Wigan will be in the grounds of the rectory.

tonker, I think wigan's oldest tree is in Pemberton!

My neighbours tree a beech, had initials and a date carved on it but has become so distorted cannot be read now. Way back in1969 they could just about be seen, it could have been 1900, 1905 1908 or 1909. It must have been quite big at the time of carving to have had that carved on it.

There's a row of Beech Trees in Marylebone Park reputedly planted in the 17th Century by the owners of Bank House along the driveway to their mansion house.
