The Union Flag
Now be told!
Flag or jack
Started: 4th Jan 2013 at 12:30
I don't mind what people call it - everyone knows what it represents.
It is only in recent years that we have been corrected from saying 'jack' to 'flag'.
Jack sounds better, it has a piratey/rakish feel to it.

Even that doesn't bother me, now that EU flag is another business altogether.

Because, Mache, if you're dozing off, we'll get more sense out of the cat.
Providing it isn't too busy licking your bonce again.

Look at the state of Mac's lovely thread.
The bold and the beautiful will be whining soon.
This will cheer him up
He wants a dress like that.
Can't find a pic of that transvestite who wore one on Weakest Link.

Unable to find yon drag queen, I tried to find him a nice Tim Brooke-Taylor wearing 'that' waistcoat. Not much doing really.
So he can have a Lovely Lesley to be going on with.

Just remembered this thread.
Yon Tim Brooke-Taylor has just been on the box presenitg one of those clip shows featuring animals.
Why they needed to spend a lot of time featuring Brooke-Taylor and abloke dressed as a dog in a studio is beyond me.
Money for owd rope. Padding out a show with tat.
Similarlly, more garbage featuring Richard Hammond.
Poxy re hash of Beadle's About combiined with bit oof a Dom Joly rip off.
More crappy padding in a studio.

The article's description expaaining the origin of the name "Great Britain" is contrary to what I was told in school, which was that this island is called Great Britain because it is the largest of the British Isles.I wonder which is correct.

Geoffrey of Monmouth in his pseudohistorical Historia Regum Britanniae (c. 1136) refers to the island of Great Britain as Britannia major ("Greater Britain"), to distinguish it from Britannia minor ("Lesser Britain"), the continental region which approximates to modern Brittany.
