My Daughter is going to kill me!

Started by: Weatherwax (317)

I promised not to buy any books at this time of the year, as she says it leaves her less choice in presents. My Husband phoned while he was shopping to say he had seen a new Terry Pratchett (Dodger), and I told him to get it, I had forgotten What I had said to her, as I had forgotten it was out. WHOOPS !!!

Whoops, indeed, Weatherwax. I'm sure your daughter'll understand you just couldn't wait any longer to read it - good luck.

(However, if your daughter is organised and has already bought and even wrapped the book ... that might present another problem.)

my sympathy weatherwax, if there's a good book waiting then you have to read it. gift cards for Waterstones are the safest gift.

i bought a book whilst i was away,a Used, but clean book, it is a Dilly Court book, one i've already read, but, it was with a shelf full of various books, in a lovely cafe we had lunch, and all the money for the books go to the Air Ambulance, worth ever penny & pound and more. Such a Great Cause !!!

Have you read it, Esme?
Here's a review from a friend of mine on a Pratchett site:

Nope, hard to get postage in the 'ghan...instead we 'borrowed' a copy from my boss who was silly enough to leave a copy he brought back from the UK on his last leave...official word is that 11 out of 14 pers in our Flight would read this again, 2 are still reading it and 1 can't read (unless it is in REALLY big crayon).
Well worth a 2nd read and then a third just to make sure you didn't miss anything the 2nd time around.
I give it 4 out of 5 slightly used farthings.

Totally agree With your friend's (very Pratchett like) review. As usual, picked it up to have a look at it, then couldn't put it down. One day I will make them last a bit longer. There again, pigs might fly
