Rod Wax

Mac's recent resurrection of an old joke elsewhere about a chap with wind and chicken innnards got me thinking about Vaseline.

"WITH VASELINE upon one's forehead, belladonna in one's eyes, rouge over the cheekbones, and crusts of beeswax round one's lips,"

I thought Sherlock Holmes was older than Vaseline. (Or is that the Romans?)

Then again, you know what thought did.

Old Russ Abbbot thing going on there.

Anyroad, I was thinking Vaseline was more contemporary with petrol engines and similar doings, rather than Hanosm cabs, top hats and 'Old London Town'.
