wellies should be banned...

Started by: i-spy (15252)

they are a risk to life and limb.Impossible to get on without pulling a muscle or falling over while hopping on one leg.And if there's nobody around to help get em off, you're stuck unless you try to kick them off and probably break a window or kill the dog.
Do they make zip-ups

ps finally got mine on today, located the biggest flood I could find, walked right through it, and then discovered they leak. Once I get em off they'll be in the bin.

I once used some odd sox as gloves when it was freezing cold. The policeman seemed to think I was a burglar.

If you'd used today's socks as gloves you'd have to wring the changes.

Common trick for burglars.

Carrying gloves can be classed as going equipped.

An jolly song

I have been known to sing it with gusto, Jo Anne.

I like the description re kicking/booting and was surprised that it is as early as the seventies (presumably).

My old mate Rigsby gives a lamentable account of his schooldays, being ostracised for wearing wellies, even in summer.

There's definitely rising damp today.

My sister, friend and I used to wear wellies when walking to and from school - in the snow.

Once, with a bit of trepidation, we trudged past a group of older girls smoking behind an derelict building. And one of them did shout at us, but only to say, 'I wish I was wearing wellies like you.'

'My sister, friend and I used to wear wellies when walking to and from school - in the snow.'

Cue violins.

Reminds me of a certain advert and a parody of it on Not The Nine O Clock News.

Central heating for kids?

Move to Windscale

Pump bags come to mind now.

Paddy shows his blonde girlfriend the 'L' and 'R' labels in his Wellies, explaining that they mean 'Left' and 'Right'...."Oh!" She says "now I understand the C & A label in my thong!"

It is, Walshy.

A good suggestion, Erontquay, if I-spy's wellies were gardening wellies.

Camoflaged wellies - sometimes worn in manure-vres.

I always wear plain wellies. I'm a real stick-in-the-mud.
