Charity bike ride AND a cup semi final

Started by: wigvet (3549)

The intrepid 'Wigan Vets' (along with a nmber of 'Wigan Worlders')today embark on the final charity bike ride of their ‘Summer Trilogy’ of fund-raising rides with a gentle jaunt in aid of Derian House Childrens Hospice, from the Heaton Bridge at Bescar arriving, hopefully, in time for the cup semi final, at Sams Bar Scholes

A great day in prospect and thanks to all riders for taking part particularly former saints captain Chris Joynt who has forsaken numerous offers of ‘hospitality’ at the semi-final in preference to slogging out on the bike in aid of charity – top man –

Incredible!! – that’s how I can describe yesterday’s effort

I feared the worst at 9am on Saturday morning – rain, a cup semi-final, a few regular bikers on holiday and racing at Haydock

Consequently I was expecting a mere 30 riders but I should have never underestimated the ‘pull’ of a great day out and 54 riders turned up including two from London!

So far I am up to the grand total of £1,183 with further sponsorship to follow – a great effort indeed - a fantastic day out and Wigan won as well!!!!!!!

thanks one and all
