Warriors new signing..

Started by: i-spy (15265)

Aussie prop Ben Cross, 32, released by Leeds and signed til end of the season.
Is he any good ? And how does he fit into the quota?

When it gets to the "business end of the season " I don't think you can ever have too big a squad.Injuries, tiredness etc take their toll in the last few weeks. Obviously the Coach see's something in him and he has been successful in his decisions so far at Wigan.

And they've been without Fielden for ages

Correct Kenny. But it may take him a few games to get up to speed. I bet there are some players carrying knocks for quite a few weeks and the bigger the squad the better chance they can have a week off.

It could have something to do with the absence of Stuart Fielden and not enough beef up front!

Next season, he will be playing for Widnes Vikings.

Also George Carmont has sighed for another season. Mcguire knows Ben Cross playing strengths well from thier time together at Canberra. He is a big rough arsed prop who takes no prisoners

Rumour is that Fielden has had a setback and could miss the rest of the season which is probably why they have gone for Cross. However if he is not good enough for Leeds is he good enough for Wigan

The warriors squad was in Total Fitness gym early on Sunday morning and Fielden was with them and looked ok training with the rest of them. However he may still be having problems with his injury You are probably right, they seem to have gone for Ben Cross as extra cover.

From what I understand, Ben Cross left Leeds following a 'altercation' with the Leeds coach, Brian McDermott and has nothing to do with him not being good enough to play for any other club.

Can you blame him with Leeds having two failed coaches like McDermott and Lowes in charge.

good cover for the end of season run in

But with this 'overseas' lot here are we turning into the 'foreign Latics' : Richards, Carmont, Leuluai, Lima, Finch, Hoffman, Roberts & Cross?????

true tom - but I think some of those will now be 'Naturalised Poms' due their ‘residency status’ – but still foreigners in my eyes

The big one and almost certainly the one that will decide who finishes top of the table....Warrington v Wigan, next to last league match of the season, first weekend in September. I can´t see either side losing a league game between now and that one.

Hoffman was only a short term signing as cover for Hock and only came here because Melbourne could not fit him on their salary cap. Now that the aussie salary cap has been increased, he is returning to them. He never intended to stay here for three years.

I have nowt at all to say about H.K.R. as they are my least favourite team ever ,their fans are a load of idiots rivalled only by the idiots from the one eyed town called Featherstone. you can rest assured ruddy that whenever Wigan are playing H.K.R. Peawapp will be supporting Wigan

Looks as though he could be a good signing now that Fielden is out for the season and Prescott has tweaked his hamstring.

Senior signed for Crusaders now they've resigned from SL can Wigan not sign him for a season.he'll strengthen up the defence a bit.

As good a player as he is Tomkins at centre seems to be the weak link in Wigan's defence so maybe bringing an experienced centre in would help to strengthen the defence up.
