Cheers fireplace, i won't be getting involved in any falling out in future, lifes too short. I had my Liverpool scarf hanging over my bed for seven weeks so I never walked alone. While in there I recieved personally signed photos from Steven Gerrard and Andy Carroll, they are now framed and on display in my computer room. Your comment is incorrect as when the Latic's were in the championship, Whelan was buying players which other clubs could not afford. In fact at the time, Oldham Athletic was doing better then the latic's for most of the season. However, by the end of the season they ended up in mid table as a result of having to sell their best players to ease a bad financial situation.

Having said the above, you only have to look at many of the clubs in the Premiership, where the new owners don't care what they spend in order to buy success.

The problem for Whelan is that he is no longer one of the richest men in the Premiership like he was when the Latic's did well in getting promoted.

It was in the 2002/3 Second Division season when the Latic's won the Championship and Oldham finished 5th.

I'll grant you the ''good business sense'', because, more's the pity, its only about making money to some; but
in fact the season or so before promotion to the Prem , Whelan was paying 182% of the club's income on players' wages . Some shoestring.
