Just over a week has passed since our great victory at Stoke but i've been thinking about how great our achievements actually are...

For a club and town our size to stay in one,if the not the most competitive league in the world for seven years stands aside achievements like Barca winning the champions league on Saturday.

Small town,relatively small resources but consistantly through guile,passion and determination punching above our weight.

Well done to Wigan Athletic for finally putting my small town on the world map.The people of Wigan salute you.

Not being a follower of football myself not really bothered but if we have a team in the premier league lets hope they shape better next season and not be propping the bottom of the league up all season

A club that has been in the premiership for Six seasons should be big enough to have its own discussion site. I spend a lot of time on Wigan Rugby fans forum so I try to spend time on here discussing things other than sport. Why not approach the club and ask Uncle Dave if he can spare a few shillings from the Forty Odd Million he gets from the Prem to open a site for the few Latics fans who come on here so that you can chat amongst yourselves without disturbing the majority of Wigan World

Jade I simply go on Cherry & White because it is about Wigan Rugby, minor irritants such as Latics are very rarely mentioned. In fact the only times the Latics get a mention is by young posters who think it's great having two top sporting teams in Wigan. One of the reasons I stopped going to Latics games was the constant moronic renditions of "WE ONLY HATE WIGAN RUGBY" I've never heard an anti Latics chant at the Rugby, simply because the fans have nothing to be jealous of

Jay 1 You say you go in The Springfield i used to go in there about 8 or 9 years ago,there was an old guy always had a whisky in his hand.He used to follow Latics everywhere i think his name was Ted (not sure)is he still around these days.He's a great character.

I´ve followed Wigan rugby since my dad was seeing me into the henpen at Central Park in the early 60s. I followed Latics from Northern Prem days of early 70´s.
I just can´t get my head around anyone who claims to be a Wiganer but doesn´t support WIGAN. I´m not a great football fan but I will support a Wigan side at football above any other...or at netball, or at tennis, or cards even.
There are better sides at most sports (except rugby) but get your priorities right..WIGAN IS FOR WIGANERS

At Cardinal Newman school we used to get free tickets for the henpen at CP happy days eh.

For Peter q Old Ted you were on about I've known him for years at the moment he's in hospital but doing ok I was talking to him yesterday, he's 91 now.

Hi Peter q I will let you know how he gets on cause hubby goes in the springfield so he will be able to find out. Have known him years, he told me he had to have a scan, and had a slight stroke,but you couldn't tell, his words were I'll fight it.

You bet he will, especially with all this going on with martinez at the moment, he was walking about when I saw him, went to see someone else cause I didn't know he was in hospital when he came walking up to me, but will let you know as soon as I hear anything.
