Horse racing fans?

Don't know how many WW members are into racing but today a new superstar emerged. Frankel absolutely demolished a fairly high class field to win the 2,000 Guineas. I honestly think this is the greatest Miler since the truly fabulous Brigadier Gerard, although he may go on to become a true champion in the same vein as Sea the Stars. To have two brilliant racehorses within the space of a couple of years is certainly a golden time for the sport

A great performance from an outstanding horse,who knows where he can progress from here,but to be honest I was more interested in the performance of Dandino who narrowly won the previous race with the added burden of my money

I'm afraid mi faither put me off horse racing for life.He wasn't a big better but he never seemed to win.....

A few lads out of the Royal Oak Standishgate (The landlord included) decided to form a syndicate and buy into a race horse. This was 12 months ago. They have had a decent return for the first season as the horse won 4 or 5 times last season at decent odds and its only a 3 three year old. I always back it out of loyalty even when it loses

I don,t blame owners of racehorses one bit for not telling any one about their horses chances!
The owners who pay the training fees and entry fees deserve to get the best price at the bookmakers,and the ordinary punter should only get the price that's left!

Don't know if anyone remembers a horse named Cannabis round about mid seventies? I was on holiday and got talking to a bloke and he turned out to be the owner of said horse and he told me it was going to run in a couple of weeks and would be placed, it ran third. He also explained that nine days later it would win at about 8/1 it actually won at 17/2. I ended up winning quite a few shilling having put every penny I could get my hands on, on it. Keep wishing I could bump into a genuine owner again

Keep your eyes open for an Aussie horse Black Caviar he may be over for Royal Ascot, he is somthing special

A friend of mine has owned three or four horses mainly two year olds,but for a big initial outlay got very little back.
At times they looked well in,but alas didn't produce the goods for him
I am a member of the Elite racing club,which incidentally owns Dandino,and I enjoy following the syndicate horses many being homebred from their own mares.
It's very interesting to follow the progress of the horses and for a modest fee,I find it's a pleasant alternative to being a REAL owner.

Think it was the scotch bakers in Mesnes St but the bloke who owned it had a racehorse called Baggin Time early/mid seventies. It won as a Two and Three year old, won quite a few quid on that as well Remember asking his son-in-law what Baggin meant and was informed it was a Scottish term for (Butties/Snap) etc

Sea of the Stars was a truly remarkable horse, and his jockey wasn't bad either,eh. Whether Frankel will get the trip in longer races remains to be seen , but I read the 6 lengths that he won the 2000 gns with was a record in recent history, if not THE record. I heard after Hills laid at 3/1 for a three-length victory.

Apparently Cecil not keen on letting Frankel take his chance in the Derby, Which would be a pity. Though he does have a horse called "World Domination" which he thinks is good enough to win it. Frankel will probably be kept to a Mile or Ten Furlongs although the "Brigadier" was always referred to as a miler he did win over Twelve Furlongs but that was more than likely due to him having a heart like a lion. The "Brig" was beaten only once in Eighteen races over three seasons, just hope they decide to let Frankel stay in training next year just to prove he is a true champion. We can just hope

I remember Baggin Time, only because I had it in one of my first ever winning bets, three 10p doubles and a 10p treble, the other two were James Last and London Glory.
I was a big spender in 1974 or thereabouts! Fact I rememder it probably because I've never had three up since.

The chap who owned the bakers was named Baillie!

Backing horses is a mugs game unless you are in the know or just plain lucky!

Ballesteros the horse is running in the 2.20 today.

First run ever,good luck to that one.
