BIG NIGHT @THE BRICK !
Well i think another piece of history can be written tonight should WIGAN WARRIORS beat SALFORD . I am eagerly trying to find if any club has held all these cups /trophies in a calendar year ?
As for tonight i wish the WARRIORS the very best just go out there as you did last Friday and i believe things will come your way .

Wigan have now won the league and that should be the end of it but the money men want to carry on with the stupid play offs for yet another trophy like they have done for a few years now Whats the point of having a league if it plays second fiddle to another title

I agree that Wigan should be crowned champions, all this play off rubbish is about "" how much money can we make? "
Salford RL should be given a heavy fine for fielding a weakened side, do they not consider the fans and the money they're spending to get to the game?
Come on RL get it sorted.

Just wondering- Did the Brick Charity pay for the naming rights of the Stadium? If so perhaps they are not running their charity too sensibly?

PeterP
They have the playoff competition in the Super League at the end of the season because Sky Sports want to have a big end of season Grand Final game like they have in Australia as part of their viewing rights contract.
And what is the point in football outside the of the Premier Division of having end of season play off games in the lower divisions to promote a third club other than to have finals at Wembly Stadium to help pay off the cost of a Stadium built nearly twice as much as the estimated cost?

I do agree with you Peterp , for me it harps back to the days of the 50's and 60's i remember as if it was yesterday that when the team finished top they were crowned CHAMPIONS , shortly after that they dreamt up the top 4 paly off's , but what enthralled me back as a young lad was seeing the trophy it was a huge cup one befitting the effort of a grueling season.
As you rightly say we now have this stupid play off system with end game at Old Trafford. I noticed the interview with Carney /Wilkin /Briers they wer saying that Wigan could not really celebrate being champions (YET) Because so much emphasis is put on the "grand final" I guess the same could be said about the Challenge Cup at Wembley? One time that was also the end of season campaign which was when the league champion's was over the next was was Wembley then season closed !

I ALSO agree with you "Owd Codger" The none sense in football 's other division's the so-called play off's , were how rediculous that a team from 6th place can gain promotion over club's above them due to round robin rubbish,, It's all just a gimmick to put ever more money into the coffer's of club's and other's .
WHy can't we just simplify things like they were , 2 up 2 down on all division's , but the MONEY MEN (greedy gits ) always want more !
RANT over as one say's .
P.S. Sorry and for god''s sake get rid of that stupid silly hub -cap /dish etc make a cup worthy of the the team player's efforts !!!!!

I agree with you about the Challenge Cup Final being the final game of the season but unfortunally outside the national bigger team sports like Cricket, Football and Rugby Union, smaller sports like Rugby League are more dependant on the money from the Sky Sports League contract and therefore have to accept the Australian type play off competition and Grand Final.
And the the 'hub cap' has actually been replaced it with a more modern design of a shield.
