Well played Wigan Warriors

Started by: builderboy (2350)

It was good to see The Warriors manage to put on a full 80 minute display of enterprising rugby at long last.

Hopefully we can build on it as we move towards the business end of the season and give ourselves a chance of silverware.

That said, the Saints continue to look ominously good.

Enjoyed the game. The litmus test is next Friday against the Saints. What was the matter with Manfredi last night?

It would appear that Covid 19 has played a further part in determining the fate of the Superleague teams.
Apparently the Wigan v Huddersfield game will be the last of the league season and, if Wigan were to win it, it would see us winning the League Leaders Shield.
This, of course, would see its status enhanced from a useless hub cap often won by Saints to a highly prized and sought after trophy of great distinction.
Seemingly there will then be six clubs fight in the fight to become the Grand Final Winners - the powers that be having determined that Leeds must be in it irrespective of where they finish in the league table.

It's a fixed farce. All of it.

And totally irrelevant as popular sport goes.

Sorry.

It snot to be. Should they have kicked for goal late on? A punt into touch and if it got to the last tackle a drop goal attempt. !!!!!

Sentimental team choice got in the way of reason broady!
No way should Smith have been left out of the team as a little kick over the top which he does well has always unlocked defence that flat.
And four forwards as choices for replacements when Burgess was hurt shows the folly of that.
Good game though ,although I think the broader public would like more running rugby, which is impossible when teams go at each other like that.
The referee was excellent all through the game, and should have a great future.

The game changed after the award of the penalty against Jackson Hastings' alleged high tackle. It was a poor decision and should have been awarded the other way as Theo Fages punched out at him when he was on the floor.

It then culminated in the strangest of endings to what has been the strangest of seasons.

Roll on the vaccinations then we can all get back to something approaching normality.

Wiggin lost.

Poor Pit mon crying in his ale,
seein' his poor team try and fail.
Beaten at the end by a sheer fluke...
Turn Sky on owd lad and have another look.

Saints are the champs from o'r Billinge Lump.
Give Big Bill a prod from me...
No, hang on,
gey him a thump...

Probably your best effort in a long, long time. Rugby over time to concentrate on your “ favourite” team. I do of course wish them all the luck in the world. ( they will need it)
