Great to be able to watch some rugby gain. I enjoyed Wigan's game although it got a bit scary at the end. Hope Tommy's ankle is OK. And no Lockers....

It's a totally different game and so much faster without stoppages for scrums. I think that the changes take a fair bit of getting used to and am hoping that the selected squad will adapt to the speedier game by the time the next fixture comes around.

I watched it, well first game for nearly 5months so allow for mistakes, hope there's an improvement next time out.
It looked like Wigan players where on one knee to the Wakefield team before the start of the game.

I wasn’t impressed with them at all. I am prepared to put it down to them being a bit rusty after the lay off. Burgess, who I believe is a marquee player, selected as sub and got very little time and didn’t do much in the time he spent on the pitch. Certainly room for improvement. Saints on the other hand looked very good.

At the finale of last season's competition the club determined that they were lacking in the forwards and that some bigger players were needed. This resulted in getting George Burgess over from Australia and also recruiting Mitch Clark.
The Covid 19 pandemic required fundamental changes to the rules which meant that scrums would no longer be used. The result of this was a speeding up of the game meaning that the bigger players' advantage was nullified.
In essence Wigan geared up for a type of game that no longer existed and this has resulted in the shorter minutes and pretty ineffective involvement of the bulkier players.
Bloody Chinese!

And now I read they have signed Brad Singleton from next season. Another prop.

After watching Saints demolish Leeds on their own midden, and being the first team to null them at home, if they carry on playing that way, every team had better look out.

I'm liking the new rules, scrums have become little more than a slow play the ball ever since they were made non competitive. without them the games faster.

Them scrums that weren't contested, they just gave the players some time to get their breath back.

Shows how poor Wakefield are and Wigan only just beat them. They lost 58-0 today.

I thought they were much more expansive today. A good win.
