Rafferty Family

Started by: frances (2831)

I am trying to find information of my mothers sister, she was Eleanor May Rafferty (known as May) who was born in Herbert Street, Sutton, St Helens on 7/1/1910 and married George Critchley on the 14 February 1933. May sadly died on the 26 March 1933, so George I am sure will have married again. Eleanor May's parents were James Rafferty & Nancy Fox they lived for a while in Wigan. Does anyone have any information for me? - I have also recently discovered that I have two brothers who I would love to have information of and hopefully if still alive meet - Francis John Rafferty born 5/4/1944 in Newton-in-Makerfield (Newton-le-Willows) he was fostered in Liverpool I think Maghull. I believe he worked as a Prison Officer at Walton. Also seeking Terence Rafferty born 14/5/1941 in the Borough General Hospital (Warrington), it is thought that Terence was sent to Australia in the child migration scheme but I am not certain of this, it could be that he was adopted. If anyone has any knowledge/experience of child migrants any advice would be gratefully received - Regards Frances (nee Rafferty)

I do not know if this is any use to you but I knew a JOHN Rafferty and he had a brother name unknown , they lived in Warnford St off Swinley Lane John would be born abt 1924 -26 he did eventually go to Australia and became a teacher, but did return I believe about 1990's but has since died in either Sussex or Surrey, oh yes forgot he went to Wigan Grammer School, perhaps if you could get hold of records for about 1938 onwards from the grammer school that would probably give you the parents ,sorry i can give you no further help and also hope you see this
