Gambles/Hughes Family History

Started by: fedup (243)

Seeking any info on my grandmother Nancy Gambles who I never met as she died before my birth. I know all about her untimely death but nothing about her life as she was never mentioned in the family. I have never even seen a photo of her. She was born in Wigan in May 1889 and died Sept 1933 when she was sadly found drowned in the canal near Martland Mill after some health problems. She married Fred Hughes in 1918 and had 2 children Irene and Ben.

This seems to happen a lot when people ask for help. You go to all that trouble to help and there's no response. Extremely rude of them!

Just looked at this site again. Many thanks Winnie and Pewfall for your info. I have already known a fair amount about Nancy , but was hoping to find out if anyone had photos or additional info? Perhaps I should have explained that in my request? I have some info on her and the newspaper stories of her sad demise and the inquest. Many thanks again!

Thanks Pewfall. I am using Ancestry but was unaware that our Family Tree is open for anyone to see. Not seen it myself. I shall have to investigate. Many thanks again!
