there is a Henry Dean at St John's , died 1984 aged 74 buried with Irene Green who died 1980 but her address was Kitt Green. Have you checked the municipal records on this web site? I did a 10 second search for Gidlow and there are two elizabeth Deans buried there.

Just found the following
St. Lukes Orrell
Harold Dean Grave No. 165 Section A Row M
(also a plot No 201 given not sure of why the difference in numbers?)
Inscription reads
In Loving Memory of Harold Dean , Died 7th July 1948 Age 33 Years
I think this is your man going from the records I found his Father was Henry Dean born about 1876 and his mother was Elizabeth Ellen Hewitt
( may also have used the surname Lawrance?) she was born about 1895

JAMB these are what he's looking for. Matches up exactly with his family tree online.
Are there any records for St Lukes online? There's next to nothing online I can find, only 9 records on Findagrave website. I keep meaning to call round there.

I got this info from the History Shop Wigan (Museum) I think the names given were only the names on inscrptions??? so it may be possible his parents are buried with him and their names have not been inscribed?? if he goes to the church they may allow him to see the burial register??
on the plan of the plots Number 165 it says Dean
I havent seen his tree , but if I am right I think his Father Henry died 1959, and his mother Elizabeth 1968???

Yes Jamb, that looks right without trying to stumble across it again. Thanks for the tip about the History shop. I've a lot of family going back in Far Moor area so will visit the shop some time.

Pewall it is well worth a visit if you are interested in family history, lots of church records , in my opinion essential if searching local catholic records as there are very few catholic records on line,
old newspapers
local council buisness
WWI & WW2 local casualties , maybe pows and a few stories , When i was researching a war record for some one I came across a photo of my grandfather who was wounded, and he wrote from his hospital bed in Turkey to my grandmother and the letter was printed along with his photo , and none of the family had ever heard of this
