Ancestry - hit a brick wall

I am trying to find out further information relating to ancestors seen below, I have not been able to gain any more. Ideas please.

Trying to find out John Radfords parents names.

Where else can I look, I would hate to go down the wrong path and waste time.

John Radford Born 1777 in Bradninch, Devon

John Radford Baptised TBC (Maybe Parish Church of Saint Disens OR Bradninch Baptist Church)

Devon Archives and Local Studies Service responded to my email - They have taken a look at the Baptism register for Bradninch register for Bradninch but was unable to find an entry for John Radford in 1777. They also searched a couple of years either side of this date but no John Radford was found. Is it possible that he was baptised in a neighbouring parish or elsewhere? Possibly at a later date? Baptism didn't always take place in the weeks or months after the birth. (Though it is normal).

Married Mary (maiden name and date not known)

Any assistance you can offer is appreciated.
