Marus Bridge traffic Scheme (with temp. lights)

Started by: Jim Latham (106)

Just been to Marus Bridge to see what sort of a mess it is.
I was there around 15:00hrs today for half an hour or so.
It's the same old problem, more traffic on Poolstock Lane (B5238) exiting Wigan than on the A49.
Another problem was traffic coming down from Winstanley towards Marus Bridge cannot turn right to go towards the M6, although some cars did, making a stretch of single lane road about 50 metres long into 2 way. This caused people to hesitate causing more delay.

I`ve just been to Sainsburys to fill the car up . It`s a nightmare on the dual carriageway. All temporary traffic lights at Marus Bridge are stuck on Red.

I DD IT HEAR THAT ALL THIS WORK IS A RESULT OF THE "" SCOUSERS"" UP HIGHFIELD GRANGE AREA COMPLAING ABOUT THE LENGTH OF TIME IT TOOK TO GET OUT AT THE BOTTOM ,HENCE THIS INANE BUILDING DESRTUCTION ,OR SHOULD I HAVE SAID " CON" ANY WAY THEY WANTED IT SO WE'LL HAVE TO SUCK IT AND PUT UP WITH IT . BUT THE GREATEST PROBLEM ON ALL BRITAINS ROADS IS THE BLOODY SCHOOL RUNS WHICH CAUSE CHAOS.

I JUST DONT SEE FOR THE LIFE OF ME WHY THE IDLE SO-AND SO'S DONT WALK TO SCHOOL, I HAD TO BACK IN MY DAYS, TROUBLE IS THE CHILDER ARE TOO MOLLYCODDLED THATS THE TRUTH!

The road crossings on that stretch always cause a problem too because they go to red when no one is using them...hideous...same down pool stock lane near the Chinese...all this causes at least a third of the problem...if only they would check out these bottlenecks..

So, there you go, in a nutshell - scousers and school kids! It's all their fault!

Marus Brdge is much better this week after a couple of changes to the road plan.
If going north towards Wigan-- NO RIGHT TURN INTO POOLSTOCK LANE.
Similarly, going south towards Bryn--NO RIGHT TURN INTO HIGHFIELD GRANGE.
Still a difficult area, but some improvement.

And the crossings will still cause a problem..the one at the BP garage needs removing and leave the one in place at the sainsburys junction..I live there and see it continuously...for those who need to cross near the new crossroads will be able to do so...so why leave the BP garage crossing in place....stupid
