Photo of Bryn station in 1962

Came across an interesting photo showing Bryn station dated 1962. Seen a few old photos of the station but have never seen one showing the additional track which used to be on the opposite side of the St Helens/Liverpool direction platform. I've searched in the Bryn album on here but can't find this particular photo anywhere; would've thought someone might have already uploaded it. Link:

It is on the site somewhere. I remember commenting about the gas light.

good one dougie.it was a nice station was bryn and so was garswood.should have turned the old lines into cycle paths or footpaths like they have done in other parts of the country.

hi dougie running across them lines cost me 4 shillings fine when we got caught coming from swings in bluebell wood to big rafts we had made on the man made lake when they where making motorwas .there were 10 of us .it cost 2pound between us in court.my dad was not happy bad memories

The station in the photo looks exactly as it was in my schooldays in the 1940s.Just a few hundred yards up the line towards Garswood it was all open land , so as kids we used to ask the fireman on the steam locos to throw us some coal so we could make a good fire then roast potatoes and turnips which we pinched from the adjoining farmers field.Happy Days.

SUPER photo Dougie Wilf's bro here) thank's it has now gone into my album i am saving as many old photo's of Wigan and surrounding towns are you buddy long time since last saw you it will be( 2 years on 12th January Wilf Winstanley.)
