I remember Scholes Labour Club, being a busy Labour Club, then it was gone, demolished, and replaced with a Shoo Shop, in the blink of an eye, so what skulduggery was that all about

On about Scholes Conservative Club, it closed and became Scholes Sports and Social Club, or something which sounded similar, and then one day it burned down, no doubt conveniently, and that was it, no clubs opposite each other in Scholes anymore, although Whelley Labour Club and Whelley Ex Servicemens Club are still going.

The Whelley Ex Club, is actually in the middle of Scholes

I remember going once to Scholes Conservative Club back in 1972. I went with a mate just to watch a local folk band. Later in the evening before closing I was in deep conversation with my mate and then suddenly became aware that everyone was standing to attention for the national anthem. We then stood up, but at the end of the anthem we were confronted by a very angry official who banned us from the club!
