Have read somewhere but now cannot find it , some-one was enquiring about the name of Wiend and Scholes cannot find out about the Wiend but have seen a excavation of the Wiend where they found the remains of a medival well and Scholes came from 902 when Scandinavians settled in Scholes and the Scandinavian word was Scali meaning hut and also the same for Standishgate -Wallgate -Hallgate gate meaning Street hope this helps .Will still keep on seeing if I can find out the meaning of Wiend
