Why don't you see......

Why don't you see any motorbikes with sidecars any more? I haven't seen one for years,don't they make them anymore?

Saw one yesterday in Blackrod. Don't see many though.

I thought they were brilliant,you could get all shapes and sizes,great for putting the kids in while you went for a ride.

You soon got the hang of it after a few scary moments cornering,the only time we ever nearly came a cropper was in a cemetry of all places,we weren't speeding-just took a very sharp left turn.

they will be back i promise you..why? at the rate of fuel price rises, and car size taxes,there has to be a cut off point, and thats when byke and sidecar will make another appearance, trust me.
by the way, they will be more eye candy for the viewer, of this mode of transpoprt.style and wow verdicts.

They are great fun, you should see peoples faces when you powerslide round corners.

It is such a pity that they don't show the sidecar rounds of the motorcycle racing on the TV anymore.

I had one when I was a youngster, still fresh from school, in fact, at that time, it had many advantages over an ordinary motorbike. With an ordinary motorbike with "L" plates on, you could only carry a licenced motorbike driver as a passenger, and were limited by the size of the engine.

With the addition of a sidecar, there was no limit placed on engine size, even with "L" plates, also you were allowed to carry ordinary passengers. As it's many years since I was on one them, I'm still trying to remember the gear change, I think, it was "up one" for first, and down three for the rest of them.

Turning left, you had to be careful there, take it to fast and you'd lurch to the right, that is unless you had some overweight passenger in the sidecar.

My peers thought it was highly amusing to watch a young kid (me) drive what was thought as a grandads bike.

They are ace, my mate had one and used to take her dog out in it, fastest dog in the North West it was.

I was having my lunch in the Crown at Horwich the other week and a bikers funeral came past and the hearse was a bike and sidecar.

We have had a variety of sidecars and bikes over the years,some bullet shaped,some wedge shaped and one as big as a small shed!We even had a scooter with a sidecar,I wish we had it now,it would probably be worth a small fortune.

Ive seen about 20 today.(honest)I have just been to the National motercycle museum in Birmingham,It is 1 mile from Birmingham airport.Anyone interested in bikes would love it.It burned down in 2003 and has been re built to a very high speck.

Well because all the sidecars got shipped over here to the states.

There are still quite a few sidecars around, but more and more biker's are switching over to the trike's these day's

I seen them trikes I didn't know what they were til my hubby told me. He is a wannabe biker like my dear old dad.

havin just passed my bike test and a regular visitor to rivington barn on a sunday ive seen 1 or 2 side cars up there at a weekend

I used to laugh at the goings on with the motorbbike and sidecar in ON THE BUSES , remmeber Olive pregnant in one ???? or am I talking to young ones

I'm a young one Elizabeth but i still love on the buses. Olive pregnent was hilarious as was the holiday one where all the cases went over the bridge. Fantastic.
