I only asked because a lot of people who don't have Irish blood "celebrate" the day anyway as an excuse to get drunk, but don't celebrate St George's Day.

I know you celebrate St George's Day as well, but not many do.

Anyway, enjoy yourself tomorrow, whatever it is you have planned.

The top of the morning to you all!

With Wigan having a large number of people of Irish origin, celebrations will be in full swing today, especially in all the Weatherspoon's.

In my case, I will have to wait until November in order to shout my Och Aye!

You're right BB, Many of them have a 'WTF' expression across their face when they see my St Paddy display as they also did when the Poncake tosser was out, The holiday brochure they got in the Dinghy never explained the habits of us natives properly

jathbee, i go to Wales camping a lot and the thing I don't like is, the Welsh don't like us tourists, we're spending money to boost their economy but they shun us by, speaking in welsh in our company,
When I'm biking along a trail or cycle lane, I always say, " good day or, hello" to people I meet and a lot of time the answer they give is " Yaak" , I've never found out whether that means , hello or eff off, perhaps you can help me on that ?

Tom, if they say yack didd, it means good day. Don't forget, Wales is a country in its own right and a lot of Welsh people don't speak English. Just because you don't need a passport to get there, doesn't mean they should all speak English.

Anyway, did you enjoy your St Patrick's Day, and did you sup all your Guinness?

I remember when all the traffic signs in Wales were in English only, and as devolution worked ?

Is there any service in Wales, which is run by the Welsh government, are any of those services run better than the same or equivalent service in England, the NHS springs to mind ?

It amuses me when people change from speaking English to their native tongue .Because I cannot understand what they are saying it does not bother me if they are calling me names .Ignorance is bliss I once watched a video of a couple of English people who where abroad and were speaking in English and the locals started speaking in their native tongue and were mocking the couple but were then shamed because they got a bollocking in their language off one of the couple who spoke their language fluently

Nos da ac iechyd da, back when tellies were black and white and finished at midnight I seem to recall that was the last thing that was said before the screen went blank and the little white dot appeared, or am I dreaming again. ?. I also thought they were saying "North Star yaki die"

No Peebee, you're not dreaming. I remember that closing sentence way back in the 50s/60s, and we even watched the little dot until it completely disappeared!
