“Closing because of some bollards”, my arse!
If it was so good, a set of bollards would be the last thing to stop all those hundreds of people who answered the Facebook announcement!

Ancient. - maybe so.
Loyal? - far from it!
That’s why loads of shops in Wigan are closing down!

I remember Howard Gallimore running a cockling franchise in Wigan, because I was one of his cocklers, so he is going to be in 70s now, maybe retirment is beckoning, has well has high energy prices, increases in employer national insurance contributions, and the holy trinity of Kier Starmer, Rachel Reeves and Ed Miliband being in power, who are going to keep making things worse in this country.

Basil, did yoo used to get crabs from me

Tonker

It’s quite stormy here APLS.
Got a message off some neighbours yesterday, they’re on a cruise and were stopped at Sitges.
They messaged today saying they are docked at Alicante, weather too rough to go to Cadiz then Lisbon as planned.
I’d rather them than me!

Cadiz must be a difficult place for big ships to visit if the weather is rough, refused twice from docking on cruises. I’ve been disappointed because of the phrase used in history lessons long ago “The king of Spain’s beard has been singed.”

Never liked Gallimores. Food hit and miss. Sometimes okay others rubbish, in my opinion.
I once complained about a partly baked baguette and the contents, which should have been hot, was cold.
I was offered a 10% discount. I told them any kind of discount was useless on food that was inedible.
They didn't offer an alternative either. I didn't refuse to pay but told them they had just lost a customer and I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone else either.
Never went back.

I don't believe that the bollards are the reason that they have decided to close.

Never understood why Gallimore's was never started outside Wigan where all the better pub and restaurant establishments are to be found.

Costing the Wife and I a fortune in petrol for our weekly trip out to one of them!

Howard must have closed his chippy because it couldn't compete with the Chippery.
I only went into Howard's chippy once, didn't like it.
Although it's rare that I eat from chippys now, when I pass the Chippery it's always full and people also queueing for takeaways too.
