Medical use cannabis has been legal in the UK for some time, and 'im in favour of that, but I'm not in favour for recreational use.

The Police will make a fortune in fines stopping and testing motorists..

I hate to sound like ‘you know who’ but the police don’t directly benefit from any motoring fines.

All monies raised goes straight to the government

No, it shouldn't be legalised for recreational use because, if it is harder to get, users will just go on to something worse in order to get a fix. Also, many people will feign illness just to get it for free when there's nothing wrong with them, which probably already happens anyway.

The Police now have the facility to test drivers for drug abuse, like they do with alcohol, by testing for marijuana and cocaine at the roadside by means of a mouth swipe test.

It's a fact that marijuana stays in the blood stream for anything up to and including 72 hours so, anyone using, could be arrested for drug driving, and that includes people who are given that drug for medicinal purposes.

Personally I've never tried it, nor would I want to, but I do believe it affects the brain during its use, and turns their brains into mush.

mollie you said

Who is eligible for medical cannabis?
It is important to note that before medical cannabis can be prescribed the patient must have exhausted all other medical options. If you have had any of the following conditions and you have tried licensed medication then you could be eligible:

chronic pain
multiple sclerosis
epilepsy

First Mate:

You’d be surprised how many people can convince the medical profession that they’re ill; back pain being the prime exampe, because it’s hard to prove, but people have been filmed mowing lawns, leaping out of cars in disabled spots etc. We’re all aware of how many people scam the system to get benefits because of so-called illness, and regular drug users are no different, especially if they can get it for free.

No chuck, I don’t have any of those conditions, but even if I had, I wouldn’t be smoking dope to alleviate the pain. I’m very much anti-drug, apart from recognised tried and tested medication. My dad had the awful condition osteo-arthritis but, knowing him as I did, he would never have used weed, despite the terrible pain he was in.

‘Tis a debatable subject, but one I feel very strongly about. Smoking weed affects the brain, and I wouldn’t want mine to be turned into mashed potato.

No drugs except for cannabis prescribed for medical reasons should ever be made legal!

It's bad enough with the illegal situation.

I don't wish you ill mollie, but imagine yourself in so much pain that you would rather die. Medicinal Cannabis alleviates that pain.

On about it being in your system for 72 hours I will agree with that, because I have only ever tried cannabis once, and I hated, it did not make me feel high or happy in any way, it just made me feel 'affected' like when you have a bad cold, and it has made your head go fuzzy, and it didn't wear of for about three days (72hrs).
