".they're complete dangerous idiots."

Indeed they are - the police!

In the instances where a death has occurred, due to police chasing cars, I'd have the police car driver charged with causing death due to dangerous driving.
Because that's what they are. Dangerous drivers!

You have to remember tonker, Its the job of a police officer to stop these thugs from hurting or killing an innocent member of the public and the police officer chaceing is a very highly trained pursuit driver and will have to decide whether its worth the risk or, back off, He'll also have back up assistance from higher ranking officers on the radio and his colleagues on the ground to help him make that judgement. He's also putting his life at risk on our behalf, If your motor got nicked, I know you'd want them to catch the scroat

Nobody wants a race to occur on a busy public road. Especially a race between two inexperienced drivers.
It puts lives in danger.
A car is just a car and can be replaced!

I watch police interceptors BB and the stunts those scum pull on the police, like reverse ramming them and side swipe them into barriers is disgusting and then when they catch, they are laughing and know they;ll get off with a ban, that they already have and more points on their licence, if they ever get a licence, Its a pizz take, Now if you shot them on the spot, other offenders just might think twice about it,

"the police officer chasing is a very highly trained pursuit driver ......."

Not always.

"and will have to decide whether its worth the risk or, back off,"

Once they get the adtrenelin rush, they have the same mind as any other twenty / thirty-odd year old.
They feel the buzz, they'll chase 'em!

"He'll also have back up assistance from higher ranking officers on the radio and his colleagues on the ground to help him make that judgement."

He'll have back-up from a twenty-odd year old girl in the communications office.

Tom, don't be misled. The police employ ordinary folk, not superhumans.
No disrespect meant towards any wiganworld members who might, possibly, probably, if not certainly, have spent time in the police force themselves, laaaaike. But I stand by my opinion.
It is far too dangerous for the police to chase a stolen car / drug dealers / shoplifters etc. through built up areas, like they do. The results of this practice is regularly seen. Causing the deaths of innocent people just to catch a car thief, or a drug dealer. It's a big price and it's not worth it!

short story, with a moral .....

I've been working in a new house in Westhoughton recently. Over £620,000 house, first one on the development to have keys handed over.
They were moving in last week. Most belongings were in the house and new expensive televisions fitted on walls in 5 rooms. New van in garage.
Moving-in day, they get a call off the site manager. "They've got in your house through the back window. Everything's gone, including your van from the garage. Police are coming later on".
Police come, "Yeah, they've come in through the window. Soco will come round tomorrow, but there's nothing we can do, really. Shame about your tellys and your computer stuff. Your van too, it'll all be miles away by now. You are insured aren't you"?

Now, them tellys and his computer were worth more than that car what killed Kathleen Kirby on Bolton Road through being chased by police. Yet the police couldn't care less about the break-in. Any break-in for that matter. Because it's too much trouble. They don't care that drugs are being regularly dealt from a shop in Westhoughton. Because they haven't got the manpower!
But, a car-chase is another matter. They imagine themselves as The Sweeney!

I have always thought the police chasing stolen cars was daft and dangerous, I believe if a car is stolen, the insurance should sort it out.

I am ver uneasy at some on here who suggest ( Oh just let them have a jolly and steal a person's pride and joy. Surely you missing the point these scumbags should be really punished and by that i mean for example lets give them "CAT O NINE TAILS " SAY 20 lashes for first offence then increase it for further offences. But to just do nothing is crass to say the least ,if that were to happen there would soon be a hulabaloo , "" What are the bloody police doing"" The second major problem is that the so-called sentences are too bloody soft .
I DO AGREE WITH TOMPLUM SHOOT UM !!!WHERE he mentions these thugs reversing into cop cars ,! WELL why don't we follow the YANKS and fit BULL BARS TO ALL OUR COP CARS??? then we can ram them bast***s instead i'm all for that . But lets start with proper punishment !

To take something positive out of this we should ask the scumbags when they catch them the secret of, running from a 100 MPH head on collision without a scratch, I've seen people get out of a , low speed impact RTA and had to phone an ambulance to deal with a, spoiled perm and whiplash injuries, Find out what the scumbags eat for breakfast and we can save the nations NHS system,,,
