GB, No it was full of smack heads, drunks and ner' do wells, they had to get the low lives off the street because of Covid, they wrecked the place so, they all got kicked out while the hotel was upgraded to home the immigrants,

WRONG tomplum - the 'smack heads, drunks and ner' do wells' have NOT been kicked out and the hotel is NOT being upgraded to home immigrants, which is a pity

Tom

Yoo don't half upset folk on here, and I think you manage that without really trying, and it's these Wigan Council types who seem to have a problem with you

Something I said ? When Covid hit, they did home the ' street people' and all the locals complained of , residents throwing beer cans and needles out of the windows, It was that bad that, Kevin the homeless man who live in the woods, refused to he homed there and he went
back to the woods, Eventually the Oak closed, Zillion£££££s was spent on it,
I'm not sure if immigrants are in there yet but, If they are in Killey court, They will be soon,

Tomplum – By the ‘Oak’ to which you keep referring, I presume you mean the Mercure Hotel –its NOT closed and there are no ‘immigrants’ in there; just the misfits

It Did close for refurbing as the opening post was asking , " It was closed when I last came" So if they've put the misfits back in, They're crazy and the immigrants will be coming soon, Sledge has a cabin on the beach with welcome to wigan and where to book in,

TTS: "... these Wigan Council types..."

I passed a Council workman on the street on Friday afternoon. He was in town and suddenly he turned round and stamped ferociously on a snail. Snail, slime and shell went everywhere. This woman shouted, "why did you do that, that was cruel" and the Council workman said, "I'm sick of him, he's been following me round all day".

i stayed in Wigan this summer. I couldn't find the Mercure oak online so assumed it was still closed. so booked in at premier Inn. great staff, good food and clean rooms. very quiet too. passed by the oak and it was obviously being used - windows open , some curtains shut and others open. I'd say go to the Premier Inn

I too would recommend the Premier Inn and when Wigan Council say that they could not repurpose The Galleries, because it was a complicated structure, well what a load of tosh, when you see what Premier Inn did with the old police station and the derelict state it got into after it closed, because it looks the business now, I think it is brilliant looking, because when it was the cop shop it was a 1960s concrete eyesore, and yes I know it was built in the 1970s
