Thanks for the heads up, replies are now working.

I'm aware the server runs slow at times, this has been raised with the hosting company.

I posted earlier on, in this topic and at which the whole site went down

Well I am glad it's come back, because I was beginning to think that it had gone for good and I hate Facebook, I mean what would life be like without a Whupsy and a Gaffer and a Tom, and everyone else on here, but I really think I should get out more, am thinking of Scotland, if I go to Wales I won't get to anywhere, because they have introduced that blanket 20mph speed limit in all cities, towns and villages

Nanajaqui

I hope you enjoy your stay in Wales

Momac and other folk having trouble posting, it might be something to do with the HTTPS encryption warnings, given when Wigan World went down, saying that the site wasn't secure, so you might have clicked on something which stops your pooter from sending data to Wigan World, so get rid of your cookies, take your cookie jar or tin and chuck the entire contents in the bin.

Now Wigan Peers might give people a warm welcome LINK they also call Wigan World rotten, and in more than one topic too LINK

Now it is said that and I agree with, that yoo shouldn't kick a man when he's down, and same way you shouldn't kick a website when it's down

To celebrate the return of Wigan World, why don't we have a forum war with Wigan Peers

For a start off on about old code, Brian did an upgrade to the site software not that long ago

Tommy 2 Stroke, I like wales, I go there often, its good for cycling in country lanes, not so good for cars because, We cyclists slow the motorists down so, we are not so popular but, It all adds to safe and tranquil stress free times, loverly countryside , mountain views, I can't weigh the locals up, I say " hi" or " morning" " howdy" or similar gestures in a friendly manner and, they ofter answer with a barking "eerk" , like they about to grotch over you, I'm not sure it its friendly or a ' get lost Brit' rebuke, I wonder if anyone here knows?,

Will be back soon...

Since the server died, most of the site is back up and running apart from communicate.

The code is very old. It needs a lot of tinkering to get it to work on the new server.

I'm working on it. 1.5 million database records are intact.

When the site was rewritten not too long ago, the old server was running PHP 5.6

We're now on PHP 8.1

There were some old PHP commands in some of the old code that are now deprecated.
