"He said he wants to dismantle the N.H.S"

A key figure in the Tory by-election campaign in Uxbridge and South Ruislip has refused to back down over her call for the NHS to be abolished.

As voters go to the polls in the crunch ballot today, Reem Ibrahim stood by her criticism of the health service.

The campaigner, who believes the founding of the NHS was a “mistake”, signed the nomination papers for Conservative Party candidate Steve Tuckwell.

i Have noticed the last few week a lot of people talking about the NHS on the radio and TV about "private treatment" ..... This morning i was listening to LBC and there was a NHS doctor on saying you could get treatment up to diagnose for the same price as a Netflix monthly subscription.... I am getting this feeling that they are testing the public opinion on these talk shows..... i would not be surprised if the NHS has been taken down the road of no return... like what has been done to all the rest of the Utility services ??? What Brexit did ! It showed how you could sell a product....

You cannot sustain European levels of social provision based upon American levels of taxation. Inevitably the result is, we cannot afford to fund it adequately.

I expect we will see the NHS follow what we have seen with railways. That is, provision increasingly privatised, but with a greater subsidy from tax payer than the state service ever enjoyed. So, watch this space: see if the proportion of services that actually are free at the point of delivery continues to shrink.

I am not in principle opposed to private health provision, but you just try to get continuous health insurance for already existing conditions.

When Nye Beven created the NHS, did he see that in seventy years time it would be providing a service and treatment for an ever increasing population like it is today, especially when so many are not paying any national insurance contributions towards the cost of the service and treatment they are receiving?

With the population increasing at alarming rate and less contributing to its cost as jobs go less, things will have to change where funding is concerned, otherwise the NHS will go even worse than what it is now in providing the nessessary service and treatment of the general public, most of which cannot afford private treatment.

When Nye Beven created the NHS 1948 only 5 years after penicillin was put into public use would recognise the NHS of today....

You forgot that you got out of the EU so you would not have to follow EU rules on the well being of the poor.....

Israeli,
How are things over there? Presumably major demos and shooting Palestinians. Prime Minister in dock. Surprised that as a non taxpayer you have time to fret about the EU.

If so many people are so poor today, how is that so many of them today own a second home like a cottage at the seaside or in the countryside or one of many static caravans on the many holiday parks etc in this country or even a little bit better off, a villa abroad?

Not to mention the many boats in the increasing number of marina's and barges on canals.

Or even still go on foreign holidays and crusies in all parts of the world!

Luxaries that nobody could afford over fifty years or so ago!

Many of those visiting food banks are not living on the streets but are living on the benefit system rather than work for a living.

Including some who come on Wigan World who no doubt also have a second hme!

Anyone that voted Leave in 2016 was naive, gullible and easily fooled. Anybody that still supports it today is just plain thick. ????

Steve Tuckwell. Is a British as they come. If you had read my earlier post properly you would see that it was Reem Ibriham who made the comments about the NHS. SHE didn't stand for parliament. SHE signed Steve Tuckwell's nomination papers.

The standard of living in all countries is different in relation to the cost of living in the UK and it it has never had anything to do with being a member of the European Union or otherwise!

Living in Spain might be cheaper, but is it any better than living in the UK apart from the weather!

Many British people also live in other countries which have a dearer standard of living and weather similar to the UK.

More to do with personal choice and employment rather than Brexit!
