Nurse's Membership Fee???

Started by: GOLDEN BEAR (6569)

On a visit today to have my ears shringed i got talking to a very lovely Nurse and during the conversation with her about the topic of strikes she told me how very angry she is ,especially after all she went thro during the Pandemic. We talked at length about the current dispute and went on to tell me that she voted to strike ,but was denied because apparently the WHOLE AREA OF WIGAN had voted not to strike and ,get this if she had gone on strike she was told they would SACK her !!! I digress the main theme i want to inform you is this ,, The fact she being a qualified nurse she HAS TO PAY £130.00 PER ANNUM membership .
I was shocked at this news , to put it in perspective if say a worker at HIENZ or any other factory worker 's were told that before they could work for them they would have to fork out £130..00 , What do you think the response 's would be ??? G.B.

In fairness GB you do have something of a reputation for completely misunderstanding a situation prior to becoming extremely enraged about it and failing to come to terms with the fact that not everybody may share your opinion with regards to that situation.

"especially after all she went thro during the Pandemic.
Please don't take this the wrong way. But what actually did she go through during the pandemic that is different from after the pandemic?
I'm assuming the £130 is for union subscriptions?

The £130 is the annual fee paid to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) to maintain registration as a Registered Nurse. The registration must be completely renewed every 3 years. It is not a union membership payment, neither is it a payment to the NHS as a pre-condition of employment.

The annual fee is nothing new - my wife is a nurse and has been paying the fee for the past 35 years to my knowledge.

Hugh is quite right about professional annual fees. Many professions need to pay a fee in order to practice whatever they are qualified for.

I think I understand now.
Is it like a gas engineer having to pay to be corgi / gas safe registered and take a safety test?

Electrician, Plumber, Gas fitter, Windows fitter and glazing manufacturer have to pay £490 + VAT
for initial registration and then £485 + VAT a year !

All run by Jewish accountancy firms - Mister 10% !

In other words, semitism?

Taxi drivers pay around £500 every three years for their licence renewals, slightly less if they only have one licence (hackney or private hire vehicle)

Plumbers pay a gassafe fee and, they have to take a course every 5 years which is average of £1500 then another payment for each job they register, If they employ other plumbers then that payment multiplies by the number of employees,
Then because you mention you work with gas, your public liability goes up and, if you employ others , your employment liability goes up and you end up paying more out than you can earn,
So, its not surprising a cowboy comes in and cleans up fixing leaks for a tenner,

We use Uber and you are given the cost as soon as you enquire. It is all done on your I Phone. If we think it is expensive ( which it rarely is) we just leave it 30 minutes or so and do the enquiry again. No ripping off. If someone uses them every day then surely they wouldn't pay and report them.

Whups

GB doesn’t need to pay to have his ears cleared of wax. He can book an NHS appointment to have the microsuction wax removal procedure done at the clinic near to where he lives. Microsuction replaces the ear syringing technique which now deemed as not safe.
If he opts to have it done privately it will cost him £60 for both ears. The best practitioners in the Wigan area are at Standish and Orrell.
