My first project Anne is a fake owl, You put them in the garden to stop the pigeons taking the food for the birds, similar to,

Tom….. I don’t really know much about lathes but yours doesn’t look too secure or mounted on a very stable base. I remember my son having to add much more support to the floor in his workshop when he moved his lathe.

Yes bentlegs, but it does say “In place and ready to go” along with what appears to be a row of possibly wood chisels and connection to power.

Tom
I once made a wooden reading lamp on a wood lathe, it is known as 'wood turning' and I rooined me first attempt, because I forgot to put the hole through the middle of the lamp for the electric wire, before I started the wood turning, yoo drill the hole through the middle first, other wise it comes out sideways, so bear that in mind, and the wood I used was from an old table leg
Replied: 15th Sep 2021 at 22:35
Friend of mine is a turner, and he swears by Cherry wood.
Hardwoods can be quite expensive these days.
Replied: 15th Sep 2021 at 22:39
I normally carve my owls etc. with a chain saw.
Replied: 15th Sep 2021 at 23:29
Still plenty more tools left if anyone needs them, not expensive.
