Wear sturdy shoes or boots for the towpath near Wigan Pier as it is mostly cobbled.

Wigan Flight has been given a prestigious Green Flag Award!

This Friday, it’s 205 years since the Flight, and the entire length of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, was officially opened.

"The waterways of Wigan and Leigh " says the article.

However, Pennington Flash is neither a waterway, or of Wigan and Leigh.

I hope it stays dry Jo anne as the cobbles are lethal when wet.

There was a bit of drizzle yesterday when I went, but it was still busy and really enjoyable.

It seems to have been well-attended again tonight, despite the heavier rain at times.

I didn’t get any great pics, but there’ve been some fantastic shots cropping up on social media.
