That's Council Tax going through the roof, and it affects the elderly most.
The mayoral precept in 18/19 was 17% before that 10%.
Burnham said he wants more devolution. All his life he has lived off the state, increase Council Tax means stuff all to him and his family.
Let's see what the Council Tax payers think in 4 years time.

Boris Johnson has won the hearts of the commoners, he drives tractors, shapes wood with a planer, lays bricks and lives in a flat, his 'partner' buys expensive wallpaper and gets him in trouble, He's a 'Lad' and a likable lad at that, He's got the Country out of the EU, Which is what we voted for, He's conquered the Covid by, having the foresight to buy the vaccine in bulk even before it was known to work, He is our ' Lad' our savior BUT, He's a tory, He reminds me of Columbo, the 1970's LA detective, Scuffy looking, acts like a clown and bumbles about but, underneath all thay persona lurks a very astute politician,

It seems that The Labour party believes the only people that can talk to the working class !! Are the young middle class and university educated.. And they need realize that most working class voters don't sit in circles speaking on how to make the world a better place the better

Extract from a piece in today's Sunday Times.

Lisa Nandy, the shadow foreign secretary, is also expected to be moved to a more domestic focused role. Promotions are expected for Wes Streeting and Jess Phillips.
The reshuffle, which could begin as early as Monday, follows Andy Burnham launching a scarcely veiled leadership challenge.
Burnham, who secured a second term as Labour mayor of Greater Manchester with a landslide victory, said in an interview with Sky’s Sophy Ridge: “If the party were ever to feel it needed me, I’m here and they should get in touch.”

BASIL BRUSH, You say he sticks up for the north !
Well i can state categorically he did NOT STICK up for me and my family ,
HE has never got back to us concerning the claim we were making for my late father's pit disease . As i have said on this site before when he was mp for leigh we had numerous appoinments with him at HHindley green community centre /and his office in Leigh , all to no avail he just di not want to know , and the nail in the coffin was that all the entire paper work that we had collated about my fathers work/death details /etc the office in LEIGH LOST THEM and to this day he has never contacted us
death certificates /N.HS. details / birth certificate the file we had compiled was huge , SO if you excuse me if i don't share with all of you you on this page who are singing his praise for me he is an EGOTIST and not even a man and all we were doing was to try and get some benefit for our mother, for a man who had worked down the pits all his working life since the age of 13 at Blundells Colliery A MAN IN MY EYES ...G.B.

It is as though Wigan is full of Burnham hating voters, even staunch Labour Party voters hate him, and it seems to be those eyebrows which annoy people, because folk think he wears 'mascara'

But ask yourself this, and that is if Labour did come back into power, who would you rather have as a Labour Prime Minister, Kier Stammer, Andy Burnham or Jeremy Corbyn ?

As regards the Conservatives, we are in an extended 'honeymoon' period of this administration, Boris and is Cabinet 'Barnstormed' into power and got Brexit done, and criticise them all you like over the Covid Pandemic, but the fact is that the majority of people in this country have now been vaccinated, and it seems to be that Boris as got it done, and he seems to have picked a good Cabinet too.

I know that it is still early days as regards Brexit, but the supermarkets are fully stocked and prices and inflation in general have not gone up, which they did when we joined the EEC (EU) in 1973 so the doom merchants in the guise of the Remoaners, seem at this point to have been proved wrong.

BUT

I don't want my comments to be seen to indicate that I am a Tory Party supporter, because after what I have said, I can expect that Whupsy and maybe even Chatty, to be now blowing raspberries at their computer screen, and are chanting

"Tory ! Tory ! Tory ! ,,,,, Na _ NaNa _ NaaaNa"

Well chaps I am not a Tory, I am just saying how I think it is

Tom is so chuffed with Boris, that I think he wants to have his babies

In any government, Tory or Labour, you need to have a 'strong' 'opposition', because you need the opposition, and just remember that they are the 'official' opposition, appointed by the Queen, and their job is to 'Shadow' the government, so that in time of crisis, if circumstances required it, the Queen could sack the incumbent government, and appoint the 'Shadow Government' in its place, and the Shadow Government would be expected to be ready to go, and govern the country, to keep the country under political control.

Kier Stammer as only in my opinion done his job properly during the last two weeks, by calling out Boris Johnson over decorating expenses, that is Kier's job, and last Wednesday he got under Boris's skin in Parliament, and regardless of who is right or wrong, that is what Boris needs.

Because just as Boris and is merry men (and women) have Barnstormed into government with successes, when the honeymoon period ends with a government cock up, you van guarantee that it will be a 'Monumental' cock up, and to avoid that you need the 'opposition' there, keeping their eye on the government.

Labour will have to change drastically if it wants to be elected back into power

When Keir Starmer's used his six PM's questions on the wallpaper it dismayed many loyal Labour MPs. It was a short time after the biggest miscarriage of justice in modern times was concluded in the Court of Appeal. It was the Post Office computer scandal which saw sub postmasters jailed, bankrupted and driven to suicide. It was felt he should spearhead the drive for compensation for the victims. He was also advised that the flat decoration was priced in with the bulk of the electorate. It must have been seen as a good strategy with the North London Liberal elite but it didn't cut any ice in Hartlepool and countless other places.

Yes, but the Post Officer scandal is not Boris's fault is it, all Boris will do is say how sorry he is about it.

You and me worked for a living from leaving school till retirement... These A***Wipes have either been given it from family or chosen the path of noses in troughs... They all p*** in the same pot... They've nee'r done an early late or neet shift... Why sing their praises when they have never done a days work in their lives... But they gladly take the 150.000 plus a year to be a mouthpiece. We are the mugs... Noses in troughs full stop.

I disagree. For instance (and I'm not wanting to fall out, it's just my opinion ...) I don't consider police officers to have 'done a days work in their lives, either.
But, we all have a different idea of "work".

In reality, work comes in different forms. A lawyer works, but not like a kerb-layer works.
A general practicioner works, but not like a bin-man works.

I actually know Andy and, although he doesn't 'work' as hard as I do (when I work!) he does spend a lot of time doing what he does.
So does Lisa Nandy and the rest of 'em.
And I can imagine their 'work' is that boring they'll be 'mentally tired' at the end of their day.
Andy, along with a close friend of mine, would often do 16 hour shifts, including travelling.

As for "pissing in the same pot", well, you should know, officer!

Work is what you do,
if you buy a cig lighter and it works, its doing what it meant to, when it stops working it gets binned and you get another,
Its as simple as that,
We are valued because we do our job ( whatever it is) when we stop, be it sickness or old age, we get binned,

Hello TOMTS,
I would just like to thank you for your reply , and all i can say to your question who would i have as labour leader/PM Kier Stammer ,AndyBurnham,, Corbyn ?? Well at this moment i would not want any of them , That said i will watch out over the next couple of years and see how Labour get on , like you too i am not and never will be a tory as i don't think for one second you are . It does sadden my heart to see Labour in this mess and what stammer has done at the week-end in sacking Angela Rayner is in my view a very bad move . I do think that stammer has a hell of a lot to do mainly his stance on brexit did not go down well with Labour voters , AS for you RIOCARONI ((( you say he must be doing something right))) I disagree for its like they use to say about westhoughton put a cow up for mp they will vote for it ,so i believe the same said about shifty andy thats why his vote went up mainly because mancs hate the tory's nothing else !!! G.B
