Parbold Hill Landfill

Many Wiganers will know the lovely viewpoint and beauty spot which is Parbold Hill.
At a recent Lancashire County Council meeting Councillors passed a proposal to allow a Landfill site on the very brow of the hill opposite the Pub and restaurant, which would wreck the spot as a viewpoint into and across the Douglas Valley!. A new entrance would be built near the top of the hill, and a suggestion was even made that traffic lights may be installed to control the extra traffic!
Now it seems (with local elections looming) that this proposal may be put on hold, but could be reactivated after the elections!
The Councillors who voted in favour of this proposal were all representatives of the Tory party, and none represented this area of Lancashire ( nearly all from North of Preston!).
Guess who will not have my vote at the forthcoming elections?

it beggars belief that anyone should vote to spoil a beauty spot such as Parbold hill, Its obvious they don't live there, Brown envelopes under the desk is a likely persuading voting tool,

According to Mr Google, the application as been deferred until the Environment Agency as made a report on whether there is actually any contaminated water getting into the Water Table and River Douglas

The 'waste' is referred to as "imported".

If this term is correctly used, it's about time we stopped accepting waste from other countries, as if we haven't got enough of our own!

There was loads coming over from Belgium. Let's hope it's all stopped due to brexit. Or is it a 'trade deal' we can't get out of?

What about our nuclear waste Where did that go to?

- Do any of you councillors have relatives who live there, which you like?
- Are you bothered about the area?

Hello first mate reading your post is very alarming indeed , i would like to add a comment and that is this pandemic look how quick the nations of the world and britain included have worked together so quick to get a vacine ,,, well my point is this why can't these same countries work equally hard to come up with a solution to recycle plastic instead of dumping it overseas ???? for me quite simple what you say ???? GB, It possibly comes down to money.
A means of breaking plastic down into very small particles which then can be used to make other plastic forms exists and isn't new. But! It is not cheap.
Some EU countries are now returning to glass bottles and are limiting plastic packages.
I believe, some McDonald's have changed the packaging and are pushing to move fully into alternative means of packaging.
