GB News

This is a new news channel, which will soon be launched in this country, the man behind the new news channel is Andrew Neil, who I have mixed views about.

I hope it's not crap.

Looking at the calibre of the presenters already signed up by Andrew Neil it will knock both Sky and the BBC.

Well I hope it shakes Sky and the BBC up.

I went off Andrew Neil when he was doing the nightly interviews during the General Election campaign, which was when Boris refused to go on his show.

During that time there was a lot of uncertainty going on, because the remainers were calling for another referendum, and supposedly impartial politicians, who said they were respecting the wishes of the people, and were implementing Brexit, were actually indulging in some very duplicitous behaviour.

For those reasons it was important to hear what the politicians had to say, but Andrew Neil who I normally like, would start offevery interview off with a nasty tirade against whoever he was interviewing, and it just seemed to take the interview off in a direction of blame, and defence, instead of getting information out of the politician, about what they were going to do about Brexit, I felt that he should have done more talking and less shouting.

I went off Andrew Marr prior to that, when in one interview with Boris, when the whole Brexit thing was up in the air, when Boris had just been elected Conservative Leader, and we were still wondering if another referendum would be called, Boris had a row with his partner, and their neighbour, who just happened to be a practising Socialist, called the police, and then called the newspapers (scumbag) and in the fall-out to that, in an half an hour long interview, Andrew Marr spent half of that interview trying to get Boris to talk about his row with Carrie, when the country need to know what his policies were, not whether he was going to buy Carrie a new settee.

I liked Andrew, but always thought he represented a Centre-Right view. I'm comfortable with that.

He seems, however, to have recruited a crew more Alt-Right/Extreme Right, or in some cases downright Fascist.

Be interesting to see what the result of this is going to be!

Its potential as a source of news will be severely undermined if it apes Fox, and becomes a channel serving as a vehicle for propaganda, posing as a news source.

Colin Brazier, 23 years as a Sky presenter.
His wife Rebecca Hutson, head of video at Reach newspaper group.
Michelle Dewbury.
Liam Halligan, highly regarded economics correspondent.
Inaya Folarin Imaninaya, freelance journalist.
Tom Harwood, writes for the Telegraph and
Guido Fawkes.
Darren McCaffrey, had 10 years at Sky currently political editor of Euronews. He will be the political editor at GB news.
Alex Philips, she hosts a show on Talk Radio, ex BBC and ITV.
Dan Wootton, executive editor of the Sun and a Talk radio drivetime presenter.

I can’t see any fascists or extreme right individuals in the list above. It looks a well balanced and talented crew.

It looks like a good line up, and on the BBC News, Media Show, there was a lengthy interview with Andrew Neil about GB News, which was good

Just had a peek for the last half hour 9am - 9.30...1st thing I saw was John Barnes bleating about blm and taking the knee.
It appears to be out of sync... Slight delay in lip movements and sound which is annoying... A bit plastic production... Sound quality not good... Lighting not much better. May be teething troubles... Will give it a chance to improve..... But so far Not impressed.

Replied: 14th Jun 2021 at 09:38

You are right about the production problems, sound out of sync, and the picture is crap an all, but if they get that fixed I personally think that the sets they have are OK, but it is the content I am interested in, and I have not watched it today, but last night Dan Wooten and his guests gave a very different take on things, which I found to be refreshing, but on the Covid thing I disagree with him, with infections rising at the rate they are, I think that to remove all existing restrictions would be 'asking' for trouble, and so what if folk have to postpone their weddings etc, it is better to do that, than die.

Balanced view it was never meant to give a balanced view!! You can say it's your view... Andrew Neil left GB news because it was going to far right ....... Neil called his decision to lead the channel the "single biggest mistake" of his career, adding "The mistake was that I put my face on the tin and yet I quickly discovered that I really had no say over what was going into that tin"

Have yoo ever watched it ?

Andrew Neil messed them about when they were starting off, he missed shows, and spat the dummy out when they had the production teething troubles at first, and apparently they did not like having to pay for him to travel from his home in Monaco by private jet, to do the show in London.

I expected them to be right wing, but as wizzy says, they do try and keep a balanced view about things, to repeat I don't agree with a lot of what the presenters say, and they say a lot, but some of those presenters who I disliked at first, have really grown on me now

I like it, it is on the side of the people

I was surprised to hear that certain advertising agencies were still boycotting GB News, and about Farage, as Angelos Frangopoulos, and by heck that name is a mouthful to say, as he said, which is what I have said on here, Nigel Farage is only on four hours a week, Monday to Thursday between 7pm and 8pm, so how can it be called the Nigel Farage channel ?

I have been watching Talk TV, which is obviously a much better produced TV channel, which is what you would expect from a company such as News Corp, with the wealth and experience they have from broadcast journalism, but I am not keen on the main presenters, Jeremy Kyle is just a performer, he doesn't come across as a serious journalist, he is full of one-liners, and I can't put a name to the rest of them on that channel, but I prefer GB News, to Talk TV.

Watching Talk TV is like reading The Sun.

I don't agree with a lot of what GBNews comes out with, especially the Anti-Vaccine stance they have taken, because a few have died after suffering side effects from the vaccines, but most medications have side effects, and one of my blood medications, states that in extreme cases, taking the drug may be fatal

So of course some folk are going to be adversely affected by the vaccines.

The anti-lockdown stance they also take, gets up me nose, because when covid kicked off in early 2020 a lot of people died from it worldwide, because there were no treatments for it, only for inhaling pure oxygen, and hospital morturies were overflwoing with the dead, and undertakers, were hiring refrigerated containers, to store bodies in, and the crematoriums were operating 24 hours a day, to cremate the dead, in New York they dug mass graves to put the covid victims in, but the lockdown worked, and by July 2020, the pandemic was down to literly there being only a few cases per day, but it was to be nigh on six months before the first vaccines were ready to be given, and when the lockdown was eased in September 2020, the pandemic came back with a vengence.
So ant-lock down, and anti-vaccine folk get right up me nose.
