Mortarmillbill: Nandy's expenses claimed since the first lockdown last March include (so not all) £8,883.35 on non-office rent, £475.67 on council tax, £2,298.50 on rail, £334.50 rail cards AND £20 on hand sanitiser.
Wouldn't you think a person on just over £80,000 p.a. could afford to pay for their own sanitizer.
In the first decade she represented Wigan, she claimed £1,629,569.80 in expenses. She's been paid by the BBC, £100 from the Guardian, £2,000 from the Communication Workers Union and more from Unite.
Spends most of her time in leafy SW12 with her partner Andrew Collis.
Wiganers just love giving.

As MP's go I think Lisa Nandy is a decent one.
Out of her expenses she paid around 150,000 pounds in staff wages a couple of years ago,so a fair portion of the total figure claimed.

Tonks: there are a few leaves there, but she resides in the good part with lots of leaves.

Fossil: her voting attendance in parliament is lower than the average MP, she voted to reduce the voting age, she has never voted on any anti-terrorism laws, has voted against stricter asylum policies and against stricter enforcement of immigration rules. She voted against raising the threshold at which people start to pay tax. She has never had a proper job and perhaps if she spent more time in Wigan talking to her constituents, she might not have to pay people to do her job for her.

Fossil, I want someone who will represent me. Nandy worked tirelessly AGAINST her constituents during Brexit when her job is to work FOR her constituents, that is what she gets paid to do handsomely by the taxpayer. Wigan was one of the constituencies with a large vote for leaving the EU but she ignored it. I presume you voted to remain.
She's the daughter of a millionaire cultural marxist and was born with a silver spoon in her mouth, yet she fleeces the taxpayer whenever she can. Why is she claiming rent when she has a nice house in Wigan and lives mainly with her partner in London, in his house?
Have you ever been to her surgery?
Her grandfather was leader of the Liberal Party who helped make a paedophile scandal disappear a few years back.
She needs reminding who pays her rent.

Platty, she is entitled to her own opinion and she also represents me as a constituent, and yes I voted Remain and some of my friends who voted leave are now regretting it!
I am not against asylum seekers but not keen on economic migrants.
I am not really interested in her origins, but it sounds like she has a supportive father and inherited his political leanings if not belief.
The questions you ask me about her private life,I would suggest you ask her.

I was always under the [apparently misguided] impression that the town's MP should represent the views of her constituency. But when she advocates placing male rapists in female prisons [oops! sorry. I should have said those who 'self-identify' as a woman, despite possessing the thing that a man needs to commit a rape], then I suspect she isn't speaking for the vast majority of her constituents. She certainly isn't speaking for those genuine women in prison who may face danger at shower-time. Or any other time for that matter. This sort of idealogical claptrap beggars belief.

I don't know of anyone who voted to 'Leave' now wishing that they had voted to 'Remain'

Last week I was in Food Warehouse (Iceland) first time since last year (November)

Asda (little un)

Lidle, the one near to where softy bollocks lives.

And they were all stocked up to the gunnels

So take a firm like Lidl, they stock items made in the EU as well as UK items.

So because of border controls between the UK and the EU and saying that is like music to me ears

More paper work is now needed, so a firm like Lidle sends a wagon from Germany or France to the UK with stock, and before Brexit there would have been one piece of paperwork, the stock manifest and now that one wagon, may need to carry four pieces of extra paperwork, so Lidle just program their computers to print out those extra documents, which will take seconds to do, so that if the driver gets pulled on a customs check, he just gives them the paperwork

Simple

Now then, lets look at the Scottish fisherman, they are upset, because they don't like doing paperwork, they hate the English, they voted to 'Remain' because Scotland received lots of EU grants, because they are a pee poor country, and I bet not one of those fisherman has a computer, never mind a printer.

Do yoo get where I am coming from on this ?

Firms like Lidle just get on with it, and get it done, and some other firms just don't ...........

Me neither Baz, but she is an authority figure with a difficult job to do......so on that basis it is inevitable their will be haters with a burning desire to criticise and express their dissatisfaction to all and sundry. She is an experienced politician and no doubt sure she is aware of this and no doubt she doesn't loose sleep over it

Moaning about her isn't going to change a thing and I cant understand why people even bother doing it, and like all MPs her expenses, will be examined and scrutinised to the last penny. I am sure there are those who think it all goes in her skyrocket!!

Contentious issues will never go away and If you don't like her or her politics or think she is not acting in your best interest don't vote for her and instead hope the person you do vote for meets with your expectations. Sadly the fact people don't like her for her work supporting minority groups, especially ethnic ones says far more about the people concerned than her

Definition
authority figure
[authority figure]
NOUN
a person who has or represents authority.

Lisa Nandy represents the government who as we all know have authority, therefore she is an authority figure.

Lisa Nandy represents the residents of the Wigan constituency to the opposition.
Well, that's what she'ssupposed to do.
The opposition have no authority.
Regardless of that, Lisa Nandy, as a single entity, doesn't have any authority.

As a high ranking, high profile front bench member of the Labour party and the main opposition party and having held roles such as Shadow Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Shadow Children’s Minister and Shadow Minister for Civil Society in addition to other leadership and advisory roles when charities and support groups I would say she has held and presently still holds a great deal of authority.

I can see and understand fully that you are confusing the terms "authority and " authority figure" likewise that your personal perception of the term "authority figure" doesn't quite align with what the recognised and accepted definition is (copied and pasted above) but......hey ho......nowt I can do about that

Wigan was a target seat for the Conservatives at the last General Election, and if the Brexit Party had not split the Conservative and Labour vote, then Wigan may well have turned bloo

As it was Lisa Nandy, Jeremy Corbyn and the left wing 'Momentum' movement managed to reduce General Election majorities of 18,000+; 20,000+ and even 23,000+ to just 6728 votes, now that is a result in the once ultra staunch Labour Party supporting town of Wigan, and next time she could doo even better and wipe out that majority all together and give the seat to the Tories

I cannot see that happening, but I think those massive Labour majorities will be a thing of the past.

As regards the 'power' which Lisa Nandy holds as Shadow Foreign Secretary.
In Parliament, she is Privy to certain sensitive information regarding the Foreign and Commonwealth office, this is because the official opposition's Shadow Cabinet 'shadows' the Government, because in times of crisis the Monarch could sack the incumbent Government, and would appoint the Shadow Cabinet to govern the country instead, that is why they are Her Majesty's 'OFFICIAL' Opposition, their job is to keep the Government on its toes, and be prepared to take over as Government of this country if circumstances required this.

As 'Official Opposition Party' the Labour Party has certain Parliamentary powers, for instance they can call for votes of confidence in the Government.
