Skip hire

Started by: 0 years (4356)

I'm having a bit of a clearout, office chairs, shredders, telephones, tv, files, computer, cables, plastic containers, old toys , general attic/garden stuff etc and the recycling centre feels like too much hard work at the minute.

As a result I thought a skip might be ideal, but one thing I don't want is some skip company to dump all of this in landfill when it is all recyclable. Is there such a thing as a responsible skip company who will dispose of these properly or will they just dump them in a big hole?

0 years. I've just moved home and had a middle size skip, cost £275. The skip companies have licences and have to comply with all sorts of dumping rules. It doesn't all go in a big hole.
There is a site called Freecycle and Wigan have a branch. I put stuff on there and people come and take it. Especially get people just been given social housing and stuff. You might find that useful.
Also, some Facebook people ask for stuff they can revamp and then they go on to sell, if you're on Facebook, might be worth looking at the Wanteds.

I'm with Platty on this one.
I use freecycle a lot for giving stuff away as l hate to throw anything away if someone else can use it.
Ive given loads of stuff away on there. It will only take you a minute to register and join.
Let us know how you go on
