RIP Gerry.
He did some great songs and gave “You’ll Never Walk Alone” to the Anfield Cop.

I don’t consider myself a homopbobe Tonker LOL !!!!. that’s a hater of gay people.’’
Methinks you meant ‘Homophone’ ;-
Homophone is a word pronounced the same as another but differing in meaning, whether spelled the same way or not, as heir and air.

I’m fairly certain the Anfield Kop is spelt with a ‘K’.
Spion Kop is a colloquial name or term for a number of single tier terraces and stands at sports stadiums, particularly in the United Kingdom.
Their steep nature resembles a hill near Ladysmith, South Africa, that was the scene of the Battle of Spion Kop in January 1900 during the Second Boer War.

And then there's Mow Cop which, historically, was a tall mound for use as a viewpoint. Hence the name, 'Cop'.
Rather like the Anfield Kop which was, ironically, a tall mound for use as a viewpoint.

Ta-raaaa-aaaaa! Bloody homophobe!

How can a message about someone dying turn into the responses above?

I liked their songs, and they were part of me growing up in the 1960s and I remember crossing a bridge in Warrington, when I was about six, and the river was polluted, and it stunk, and it had soap suds floating on the top, the washing up liquid type of suds, and they were big buggers too, and they were floating along like icebergs, and I asked me brother which river was it, and he said the River Mersey and in me head I was playing the song 'Ferry Cross the Mersey' and thinking yuk, not the song, but the River Mersey.

R.I.P. Gerry
