M6 North. Friday.

Started by: Billinge Biker (2384)

Ye gods...usual friday morning trip upto my van at Bolton-Le-Sands...got near Charnock Richard..40mph speed limit..Queue ahead...thats all it said...stop/start all the way to M55 (Blackpool turnoff) nothing but sheer volume of traffic...horrendous. Thank goodness for Air-con...32 degrees outside temp...counted 9 breakdowns in that stretch. Not fall for that again !!.

Billinge Biker, you are not bloody kidding! What an horrendous journey.

We got on at junction 27 at approx 14.30 on our way to Holme near junction 36. After an hour of stop start (mostly stop), we were approaching junction 29, frazzled and toasted in an open top car which had no aircon or even a cool setting on the blower (switch on the cool fan and hot air came out) and the roof would have needed a stop and construction to put up. Steaming . Google maps/Waze (no sat nav) estimated three hours to destination which should have been 45 minutes.

We jumped off at J29 followed A6, M65, off at J7 towards Clitheroe and up to Kirkby Lonsdale. The long way round but arrived an hour and a half earlier than the supposed fast motorway.

Mental,

My face now looks like a red panda. Not a pretty sight...... but it never is.

Was due to drive to Levisham today but after that, forget it.

We drove one thousand, two hundred and sixteen miles last Saturday and Sunday. From Spain, through France and through the Eurotunnel.
We never saw any congestion until we reached the Midlands, on the M6.
Smart Motorway construction, loads of bollards and barriers for mile upon mile, but no work going on!

Exactly Tonker.

We drive in France quite often and have always said the same, no issues until we hit the U.K then jams a plenty.

Aye Me too. i been doing M6 lately up & down like a yo-yo lately from junction 4. Never seen anyone doing construction on a Friday or Sunday, just endless 50mph restrictions, unmanned digging machines and little overall progress anywhere since last year.
