That road Mick is the best thing for Wigan, since pies were invented

Yes it is, I can see the cycle path also being used as a jogging track when the Wiganers who like to keep fit realize its there.
And Im sure that the Scotmans flash sailing club will also get new members, now that it can be seen from the bridge

I think there are more folk using the cycle path than there are motorists using the new road, it is obviously very popular

Typical council with the road markings three lanes right lane road markings to turn right onto Poolstock which is the A49. Left and middle lanes marked up A49 with T arrows.Left lane marked for straight on and left turn. Middle lane marked straight on and right turn then just before the junction changes to straight on only. Noticed two drivers completely in the wrong lane

I am going to have to disagree, because the (new) road markings are right, because Poolstock Lane is actually the B5238

PeterP not got a clue what he is talking about.

If the new road is slightly longer than the old route, maybe unscrupulous taxi drivers driver will use it more to increase the taxi fares

TTS why has the new road been numbered A49 when this goes through Goose Green to Wigan via the Saddle. Fat Mick look at YOUR VIDEO AT THE BEGINNING and look at the road markings and you will see what I am about.TTS So I called the B5238 the A49 it does not change the road markings are confusing.

"If the new road is slightly longer than the old route, maybe unscrupulous taxi drivers driver will use it more to increase the taxi fares"

Or provide a better service by getting them to their destination quicker.

Also, although I haven't used a taxi for a while doesn't the clock keep ticking whilst sat in a traffic jam? If so it could be cheaper for the passenger to use the new road.

Why do some people always look for the negatives rather than the positives?

Yoo might be better off asking a taxi driver about how taxi fares work ....

The negatives about the new road are starting to depress me
