Doubt it TTS. When I passed it yesterday, was all boarded up, surrounded by skips and bollards preventing access. Don't know how they got the skips on there.

The Shed.

Those Sally Metcalfe types who thought they were going somewhere posh and swanked about going to 'The Beeches', won't be swanking about going to 'The Shed', will they.

Plans have been submitted for a new restaurant, bar and function venue at Standish's The Beeches.
The scheme, submitted by new owners Elle R Leisure, shows the partial demolition and alteration of existing buildings - but the main original house will remain intact.
New, larger extensions to the side and rear are shown on the plans, with a new entrance from School Lane next to the existing one and parking largely at the back of the property.
Elle R Leisure, which runs the Albert's chain of restaurants around Manchester, has promised to turn the historic house into a thriving bar and restaurant again after total refurbishment.
Only one new plan is available at the moment, but Standish Voice will post more details and images of the proposals as we get them in the coming days.
Nearby residents have been sent letters informing them of the plans.
The Beeches, which closed in January, 2017, is one of Standish's landmark properties, dating from the beginning of the last century.
The images show The Beeches, the proposed plans and an existing plan of the building for comparison.

I am so glad they are not pulling this beautiful building down. Does anyone know who had it built and when.

I hope it is Nanajacqui. We have been to Alberts on more than one occasion and it's very nice.

The Standish voice Facebook page shows The Beeches being built in 1903.
The 1891 census shows the Almond family living there. James Birkett Almond had remarried a much younger woman. There were 5 children, two step children and two servants hence the need for a bigger house.
It looks like it would have been built between the two census years of1881 and 1891.
