Why are kids so unruley now,

I've spent today in my garden hoping for peace and quiet but, young kids, I'm guessing 6/7/8 years old in a nieghbours garden were . screaming and shouting for long periods of time, It was like a skool playground but went on for hours , I'm guessing they were in Grandma's house because Mum and Dad were out enjoying the bank Holiday,
Are kids now encouraged to be socialy disruptive or, is it me being a grumpy bugger ?

You're not a grumpy bugger, Tom. Just an old grumpy bugger.
No, I'm just joking. I don't know if parents are more tolerant of the noise kids make, or they just don't care as long as they're not in the house under their feet.
You should be able to enjoy peaceful enjoyment in your own home, but sadly, kids seem to be able to run riot and make nuisances of themselves these days with no parental supervision.
I haven't been outside today as it was too hot for me, so it was nice and quiet inside.

My theory is , parents encourage kids to be loud , In my yoof children were to be seen but not heard, A close nieghbour has 4 kids and, she is loud, I can hear her from inside my house and she is 200 yards away, She is effin' and jeffin' and her kids will grow up to think its the norm,
God help us all,

A close neighbour to me has seven but, to be fair, they're reasonably quiet. The worst offender in that house was one hot day not too long ago who had "music" thumping loudly. For some reason or another he doesn't work, although he seems to be very fit and able to me. A pleasant enough family though, but kids from who knows where run around like ants near me from time to time.
Like you Tom, when we were kids we were meant to be seen and not heard, and to never, ever interrupt grown-ups when they were talking. I learned that to my peril when I was about four, and I've never done it since, but I hate it when people try to speak over me and tell them so. It's so rude.

Seems to me,they're not taught any manners nowadays - they know too much too, and are aware that they can be as disruptive as they like without any thing happening to them., And some parents are as bad: and are virtually anti-social themselves.

It's the parents that teach them that though Jacks. Loud kids usually come from loud people, so the kids grow up think it's the normal way to be. There seems to be no discipline in their homes nowadays, and that's sad for the kids.

People complain about kids having their faces glued to their phones or playing video games, then complain again when they are outside playing in the sunshine.

First mate, the problem lies at the video games that they watch..they’re just so neurotic, can you remember watching anything at the pictures when you were a child where everyone was so neurotic ..the only time we made anything that represented anything like noise was singing ‘we are the boys and girls well known as minors of the ABC’ at the Ritz cinema.because I can’t.

Aye.We were all little angels when we were kids.Did no one play in the street, kicking a ball about.girls skipping, playing hide and seek at night, kick out can,tap latch etc.We must have been right nuisances to old folk.It is hard now for parents to let 6/7/8 year olds to go out and roam about like we did.

retep
There's nothing quite like the sounds of young ones enjoying themselves. If you don't like it then buy some ear plugs.

But..retep..none of what you mention was neurotic, there’s the difference, nobody expects children to be quiet,we’ve all been there but the difference is we weren’t noisy and neurotic at the same time.

What's wrong with children playing outside? What does it matter if they make a noise? I used to live near a primary school and loved hearing the kids at play times. When we were small we used to scream and shout when we were playing in the street and the adults didn't bother I'm sure it was the same for most of you too. Children have to grow up too soon these days so let them enjoy their childhood and the sun while it lasts.

i put it down to kids being diagnosed as suffering from adhd,it's a licence to have a tantrum or a full blowout. never any of that when i were a kid

HollyH I fully agree with you but, Kids running daft in the playground is for a short time then, Some grown up says, " right you lot, time to start learning again"
Thats not happening at home, kids should be taught to respect others who don't want screaming all day long,
