broken wrist
Jathbee it is a fortnight since you broke your wrist. I hope you are on the mend and coping with every thing

Thank you so much for asking PeterP
I'm coping well enough thank you. I now have a splint on instead of the cast, which makes things a bit easier. The jobs I can't manage, like changing my bedding and using my big hoover,my daughter does for me. I have a battery operated stick hoover for picking up bits, which I can manage easily. I can manage to do most household chores too. Anything else, I can call on my family for. Thankfully.
Got to keep the splint for another three weeks and then see the fracture clinic again.

Glad you're managing better now. Having a limb out of action for any length of time can be very frustrating. As I said in the previous thread, come downstairs on your bum from now on. It's much safer, even if you do feel daft doing it.

Me thinks I’m going to se my GP..I’m still having to wear this black splint otherwise my wrist is so weak,my thumb pains very much..I first broke my wrist in March which is a long time and I’m cheesed off, still can’t open tins and other various tasks which I can’t do yet..plus my wrist is now wider than my right one..to say I’m cheered off is an understatement.

It should say cheesed off,not cheered off.

Momac, four months is too long for a break to heal. Please go back to the doctor.

Thank you Mollie..I’m going to ring him on Monday.

Hope you get an appointment sooner rather than later. It can't wait now. Don't want to upset you, but if it's still giving you pain, they may have re-set it wrongly. It usually takes 4 - 6 weeks for a break to heal, not four MONTHS! I don't know how you've put up with that for so long. Take care lass.

Did you know that your body will purposely break it's own wrist in order to protect the spine ....
If you fall backwards you could damage your spine and not be able to walk, run, fight, hunt for food etc, so if you do fall backwards, by a reflex action you slam your hand down and behind you to break your fall, you can't help but do it, because your wrist will mend, but your back/spine probably won't

PLS..nothing surprises me about the human body..as for my wrist,it’s entirely my own fault..I did get a letter asking if there was anything I wanted to report ,or words to that effect and I wasnt too well at the time and therefore it got overlooked,I know as mollie says that it is too long to heal..and will probably get told off when I do see the doc or whoever..but it’s my own fault as I say..but I’m definitely ringing the docs on Monday..so thanks again mollie for caring.x

Yes Momac. Definitely see your doctor. You won't be the only one who's to be bothered like this. Probably another x-ray will be needed or maybe physiotherapy might be the answer. Whatever it is make sure you see your doctor. He/she will point you in the right direction. Good luck and please let us know how you go on. X
